The only way to totally sever from the system is to live out remotely and cut the power/utilities and no phone or internet. Extreme but doable in todays world, understandable. Many shades and degrees of separation before this extreme position and I am in one branch of that.
I have a “credit union” account with a card, also have a prepaid debit card, and “secured” credit card. Currently all “online” charges paid via pre-paid debit card (Varo Bank). When Credit card received from them will fund it with their credit card and switch all online charges to that and pay off monthly. That is the most secure I can be in today’s “ID theft environment”, yet still live with modern convenience’s. Also my savings are in actual metals kept by a trustee in TX, for an annual fee of course, they are accredited 401k precious metals ect for tx liability reasons.
My internet is via Star link, no windows MS-Account on PC, When I have to will switch to Zorin linux for maintaining online privacy, and ALWAYS USE a VPN and no “free email accounts that spy”.
For cell phone have gone a couple ways. For accounts requiring Google (Google voice ect) I have on annual prepaid Tracfones, pay about 100.00 per year for two different lines, and everything is “forwarded” to my true cell phone carried daily. If you look on HSN/QVC you can usually pick these up for 50 bucks or less including phone and year of service. And the minutes annually “roll over” so after many years of this the minutes used have really built up. Phones are rarely carried, and in a faraday enclosure most of the time, as everything is forwarded to my primary. My primary I changed this year to post paid at 210.00 per year, unlimited everything with same carrier I for 7 years had been paying 45.00 monthly, when their customer “no service was exposed to me in trying to resolve an issue”. After research I found no matter the name on bill there are 3 carriers in USA! T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T. The coverage is in the same order in 2026. Mint, Vision, and Cricket are the company owned prepaid divisions. For me this allowed cutting bill by two-thirds by going annual, with same speeds and limits, and same AI/Foreign support. What really changed on the privacy end is De-Googling my daily phone. First I just crippled my phone by getting rid of all bloat and disabling Play store and everything Google. The second phase was purchasing a new phone, waiting to use it till passed manufactures hold on unlocking bootloader, and installing E/OS once it was unlocked bootloader. With that have nothing Google on the phone now, and no social media or spyware apps. In a year from now the spam emails and ID theft should be a thing of the past. You can buy “privacy phones” from Brax.me or Open Mobile and E/Foundation. The reason I did it myself is I desired a New Phone with a qualcomm chipset, 256db storage and SD card expansion. The only way to get that was “do it myself”. So for about 300.00 bucks all in I have all of that and am very happy, By by “Skynet(Google)”
