Back when I was a young adult and serving our country in the military (1980’s) there was real privacy. No cell phones, no internet, no computers in auto’s. Day to day society IMHO was much more “authentic”, and time spent interacting is how trust was gained, and free sharing info one on one one basis. Government and businesses alike, were more responsive, as they did not know every contact’s history and social economic details at first contact. Since the internet and smartphones year by year that privacy has been taken by corporations and shared co-opted by government. If you do not have privacy, in short, you do not have freedom. When corporations and government control patrons information, and follow and keep records available for instant recall by them at POS or contact it represents an unfair advantage and erodes unbiased interactions with one another. It allows manipulation and vastly tips the scales to the one whom has that information at instant recall (Orwell’s 1984 comes to mind) . Having been the recipient of such a government attack personally, I will never knowingly yield my privacy for connivence or by being strong-armed. Despite whatever a earthly government may say, your freedoms come from God, not government. I value cherish and will defend those freedoms as best I can, you do as you wish, but don’t dare try to give mine away via apathy or your fear. I find it the ultimate irony that those who steal your privacy/freedom try to insure their own privacy. In short it is a constant battle, and despite best efforts a tug of war that will continue till the antichrist uses it to enslave. Short of being a Luddite, I take steps to protect my privacy, and encourage those who wish to remain somewhat free to do the same.
